We use OCT to create a MSP file for Office 2016 Professional Plus to be installed from a Network admin point and use KMS activation. In Office 2010/2013 - we could configure a PRF file to import so the first time a client started Outlook - the profile would be created without them having to do anything. We could also create additional Outlook profiles for logging into different mailboxes. Outlook 2016 doesn't support PRF files nor is the Exchange service available due to it only using Autodiscover to create Outlook profiles.
Outlook for Mac can automatically run a rule on incoming or outgoing messages, based on the conditions you set. A rule is an action performed automatically on incoming or outgoing messages, based on conditions that you specify.
We do have Autodiscover setup so if I step through the email account wizard - an Outlook profile gets created successfully using the smtp address of the logged in AD account. If I enable the Outlook group policy setting for Account Settings Exchange Automatically configure profile based on AD Primary SMTP address - then Outlook does start without any prompts but then are unable to create additional Outlook profiles for logging into different mailboxes. You can only add Accounts to an Outlook Profile. We need to be able to log into the additional mailboxes using the same AD account for configuring rules on that mailbox. Is there a way to configure the MSP file so the first time Outlook is started - the outlook profile is created automatically without prompting the user to respond or enter anything?
And still be able to create Outlook profiles for additional mailboxes so we can log into them using one AD account? My situation is similar to yours. I was able to automatically bypass the 'Welcome to Outlook 2016' setup wizard by following this technet article: - 1. In the Windows Registry, navigate to the appropriate subkey for each version of Outlook that is in use: For Outlook 2016: HKEYCURRENTUSER Software Microsoft Office 16.0 Outlook AutoDiscover As a policy: HKEYCURRENTUSER Software Policies Microsoft Office 16.0 Outlook AutoDiscover 2.
Once the key is created, right-click in the right pane and click New, click DWORD Value and type in “ZeroConfigExchange” (without the quotes) and then press ENTER. Finally, right-click ZeroConfigExchange, click Modify and then in the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK. We will probably implement this as a group policy. I haven't decided if the key will get added to the default user for our base image. Hi, The current plan for Outlook 2016 is to remove the ability to create Exchange accounts using.prf files.
However, the idea is to continue supporting.prf files to configure other email account types and data files. To add Exchange accounts in Outlook 2016, we need to let the users use autodiscover instead, enter their email address and password.
I'm not sure what issue you met when you tried creating a new profile, any error message? Regards, Melon Chen TechNet Community Support Please mark the reply as an answer if you find it is helpful. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact. Hi Melon - thanks for the response.
The issue I'm trying to address is when our clients get a new pc and start Outlook for the first time - we don't want to have to enter anything (it's a customer service standard we have at our company). All applications start up on first run with no user intervention. So we create a base image with SCCM that loads our pc's. We have Office 2016 installed in the base image. If I set the Outlook group policy for 'Automatically configure profile based on Active Directory Primary SMTP address' that solves the issue of the client not having to enter anything when Outlook starts but then when I go to Control Panel Mail to create another Outlook profile - it just automatically creates the profile for the logged in AD user and I want to be able to configure it for another mailbox (smtp address).
We have lots of generic mailboxes that customers have 'full access' and 'send as' rights to and sometimes they need to log into that mailbox to create/edit rules. If I DON'T set the Outlook group policy for 'Automatically configure profile based on Active Directory Primary SMTP address - then the first time a user starts Outlook on a new pc - they get prompted with the 'Welcome to Outlook 2016' and have to click Next and smtp address does fill in automatically - but this is where we don't want the end user to have to enter anything. So this is what i'm looking for - I need Outlook to start the first time without any prompts to configure Outlook with the logged in AD account and then I need to be able to go to Control Panel Mail and create an additional Outlook profile that access a generic mailbox. How is that possible? My situation is similar to yours. I was able to automatically bypass the 'Welcome to Outlook 2016' setup wizard by following this technet article: - 1.

I haven't decided if the key will get added to the default user for our base image. Well - I thought the HKcu policy key was the answer - but it is not. It does not allow me to go into Control Panel Mail and create an additional outlook profile for a different smtp address (mailbox).
It works the same as this policy setting that I referred to in my original post - 'Automatically configure profile based on Active Directory Primary SMTP address' and create another outlook profile for the same mailbox (smtp address) I know I can add the generic mailbox as an additional account in the same outlook profile - but my concern is our clients will get confused as to what mailbox they are working in. Also - I know you can set the generic mailbox as the 'default' and then you can create rules for that mailbox. Again - this may be very confusing to end users who are use to working out of one mailbox at a time. Still looking for an answer - I need Outlook to start the first time without any prompts to configure Outlook with the logged in AD account and then I need to be able to go to Control Panel Mail and create an additional Outlook profile that access a generic mailbox.

How is that possible?
